Spring Cleaning Skin Care Edition

It's time to throw out...

Expired products - look for the little open jar symbol with a 6M or 12M. "M" stands for months. If you can't find it, assume it has a 12-month shelf life. The one product that is an exception to that rule is SPF. Sunscreen is good for about one season or three months.

Samples- you should use up a sample in a week or less, or it's trash.

Anything with pore-clogging ingredients. Check your makeup, skincare, haircare, laundry detergent, and dryer sheets. (You'll find a list of pore-clogging ingredients in my Ebook!)

Products you don't reach for regularly- The key to effectiveness is consistency! If you aren't using a product as directed, it's not working for you. Toss it.

After you throw out what isn't serving you, it’s time to clean!

Makeup brushes- use the ultra-gentle cleanser and some warm water. Let them dry on their side in the sun.

Pick up some 70% isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol) and sanitize your makeup brushes, bag, and other products.

Last but not least, if you haven't already, book your appointment with your Face Reality Acne specialist for a deep pore cleanse and professional extractions.

Acne Treatments provide a much-needed boost to your skincare routine during the change of seasons. Review your routine with your Acne Specialist and see if there are any changes you should make to keep on track with your goals.

For example, you might need to bump up your mandelic serum or add a moisturizer under your sunscreen.

I hope this inspires you to make smart skincare decisions this spring!
